Strawberry quartz

The stone of love and joy

Clear quartz with red flecks reminiscent of strawberries; loved in tradition as a stone of love, joy and tenderness.

Strawberry quartz is clear quartz with red flakes and flecks of iron oxides, mostly hematite and sometimes goethite or lepidocrocite, which give it a pinkish, strawberry tone. Good material has recently come from Kazakhstan and Russia, and also from Brazil, Mexico and South Africa. Be aware that many beads sold under this name are reddish glass, so it is worth asking about the source. Real stone feels heavier, and its inclusions are irregular.
