Blue topaz

The stone of clear speech and quiet

The blue form of topaz, one of the most popular blue gemstones in jewellery; known in tradition as a stone of communication and calm.

Blue topaz is the blue form of topaz, an aluminium fluorosilicate mineral. In nature it is rare and usually pale: only a small share of topaz forms blue. Nearly all the blue topaz on the market began as colourless or pale topaz whose blue was deepened by irradiation and heating. The treatment is stable and widely accepted in the trade. Blue crystals come from Brazil, Russia, Namibia and Nigeria.
